PROGRAM LEVEL
Telecommunications have been revolutionized many aspects of the life of business or government or individuals in Bahrain. The people become more connected, better informed and has greater technical sophistication than ever before. Therefore, all telecommunications sector from Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to huge service provider companies required a well-qualified and knowledgeable engineer who are specialized in this field to design and develop high speed networks and to cope with the rapid changes of future networks. The primary objective of this program is to equip participating students with a comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge based on the latest topics in wireless systems, networking, broadband multimedia communications, and convergence protocols.
The University of Bahrain has been offering Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering for about two decades with few graduates in recent years. The department of Electrical and electronics engineering offers a bachelor’s degree in either Electrical or Electronics majors. Therefore, the Department is proposing the establishment of a master’s degree in TNE so that it can meet both the needs of the prospective graduates with such aspirations as well as the Bahrain telecommunication sector searching for graduates with specialized skills.
The Telecommunications and Networks Engineering MSc at UoB will provide an advanced understanding of different aspects of private and public telecommunications networks such as design, management, maintenance and service provision. The program focuses on developing mastery of theoretical knowledge and practical skills related to modern telecommunications systems, IoT, network design, deployment of large-scale networks, and the security and protection of networked and computer systems. Careers: As a graduate, students have the skills for a career in areas such as: Mobile and Satellite telecommunications, Aerospace, Automotive and transport, Defense and security, Healthcare and Banking. Also, The MSc is also an ideal entry point for doctoral research in the fields of telecommunications and embedded systems.

PROGERAM OBJECTIVES
Upon graduation, the students should be able to:
- To provide a thorough training in the principles of telecommunications and networks engineering.
- To enable students to develop novel engineering solutions to important regional and global energy problems in order to meet the region’s needs for renewable energy through carrying out fundamental and applied research using appropriate design methods and analysis tools.
- To broaden and enhance student’s skills on efficient problem solving, critical thinking, team working and professional communication.
- To provide students with extensive knowledge on social and ethical codes, energy regulations, energy efficiency, international agreements, conventions, and standards which they can actively use in their professional activities.
- To train engineers, scientists, environmental scientists, and policy analysts to participate in the development of the renewable energy industry in Bahrain and the region.
- To provide students with a capacity of self-learning in familiar and unfamiliar situations and for efficient time and resource management.
- To develop in student’s leadership skills so they can play principal roles in academic and industrial organizations in the engineering areas.
