PROGRAM LEVEL
The Doctor of Philosophy program (PhD) in Chemical Engineering provides an opportunity for students to pursue a program of research in a specialized area and to develop a dissertation that embodies the results of original research and gives evidence of high scholarship.
The PhD thesis shall make an original and significant contribution to engineering knowledge. The program requires successful completion of (75 Credits). A Ph.D. candidate is required to complete a minimum of 7 courses (21 Credits). In addition, each student is expected to complete an original research work and take an examination within three years of commencing his/her research study (54 Credits). The student must demonstrate a critical awareness and understanding of the literature in the research field and exhibit capabilities of defining original and usefulness problem. Originality may be assessed by considering the extent to which parts of the thesis might be published in peer-reviewed technical journals with international stature. Ph.D. students are expected to publish scientific papers in peer-reviewed international journals prior to submitting the thesis.
