Biography


Bassam AlHamad is a researcher in process systems engineering. This includes the areas of modelling, simulation, control, and optimization in the fields of oil and gas processing industries. His recent research is in the area of soft sensors in oil industrirs, simulation and optimization of ammonia and methonal reactors, applying advanced control as a digital twin in gas industries, optimization of energy consumption using heat integration and exergy analysis, exploring artificial neural network applications in enhancing water treatment applications. He was involved in research collaborations with several companies such as Bapco Energies, GPIC, ALBA, etc. He is also an Expert in Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education. Dr. AlHamad is the Former Director of the Quality Assurance & Accreditation Centre (QAAC) at University of Bahrain (UOB). He holds a PhD degree in Process Systems Engineering. He is an affiliate member of INQAAHE, an ABET Program Evaluator since 2014 undergoing reviews up to date, and an ISO Expert in ISO 9001:2008, ISO 10015 and ISO17025. He is also a member of the Higher Education Academy, and the representative person for University of Bahrain who is an Associate member of the International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education. He worked in various projects that included Curriculum Development, Curriculum Design, National Qualification Frameworks, Development and Management of Quality Systems, Development of Quality Manuals and Policies at the institution, national and international levels. At the governance and management level, he worked in Strategic Planning, Quality Management System in companies and industries, Quality Assurance and Enhancement Policies and Processes at program and institutional level, Organizational Structure Re- Engineering. He acted as an assessor and evaluator and provided consultancy as part of the Government Excellence Program, involved in the areas of Value based management, Change Management, Government Competitiveness, Organizational Governance.

  • Distinction. Awarded: Course Prize as the best student in the programme of the Institution for 2000/2001, MSc. in Instrumentation and Analytical Science.
