Biography
Prof. Islam is a seasoned professional with over 30 years of experience in architecture, landscape architecture, and urban design. Certified as a consultant landscape architect in 2000 and urban design consultant in 2002, he has provided consultation services for projects in Iraq, Kurdistan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Bahrain. He has worked with UNU-WIDER in South Africa (2017) and Finland (2012), and as a City Development Strategy Consultant on World Bank projects with AUDI, the League of Arab States, and the Arab Towns Organization (2005–2012). He has served as a referee for the Al-Turath Award (2012–2022), consultant for Morocco’s Asela Festival (2017), and reviewer for SCTH heritage conferences (2012, 2015). He completed research grants at University of Dammam (2011/2012). He is the author of 12 books, over 45 refereed journal articles, and 65 conference papers. He has received numerous certificates of appreciation.
