Hawra Jaafar Shaikh Mansoor is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Architecture and Interior Design at the University of Bahrain. She brings a wealth of teaching experience, coupled with a strong academic background. With a PhD from the Canterbury School of Architecture, University for the Creative Arts, UK, her expertise delves into the interdisciplinary realms of architecture, philosophy, psychology, and cultural theory. Hawra’s research primarily revolves around the intangible dimensions of spatial experience within user-centric architectural practices. Her doctoral thesis intricately explores how architecture can imbue meaning and purpose for its users amidst evolving social and cultural landscapes. Moreover, her scholarly pursuits extend to investigating the symbiotic relationship between architecture as a creative endeavor and the lived experiences of individuals, viewing space as a product shaped by both design processes and contextual influences. Originating from a background in Interior Design with a BSc. from the University of Bahrain, Hawra furthered her studies, earning a Master's Degree in Design from the University for the Creative Arts, Rochester in 2012. Her academic journey, combined with her practical experiences, enrich her holistic approach to education and research in the field of architecture and design. Beyond her academic achievements, Hawra's commitment to advancing design education is evident in her dedication to mentoring students and guiding them towards a deeper understanding of the transformative power of design. Her passion for bridging theory and practice, history and contemporary innovation, creates a dynamic learning environment that inspires students to think critically, creatively, and empathetically about the role of design in society.
