Ms. Noor Al Alawi

Research and Teaching Assistant

An architect, designer, and artist currently working as a Research and Teaching Assistant at the University of Bahrain. Her areas of interest are cultural identity, Islamic architecture, and unpacking the complexities of our environment through architecture. During her Masters, Noor’s research involved a thorough study of Qatar’s Culture and Heritage, titled ‘Infrastructure as an Index of Cultural Identity’. After completing her Masters in Architecture at the University of Kent at Canterbury and obtaining her RIBA Part 2, Noor joined multiple international award-winning architectural practices in London and Dubai to contribute to the development of cultural architectural and landscape projects in both regions. Some of her projects include public parks and urban masterplans in Dubai such as La Mer Beach, Al Seef, Dubai Design District, City Walk, Dubai Culture Village, and the landscape of the iconic Burj Khalifa, five start hotels and resorts including various Double Tree by Hilton and Hampton by Hilton hotels and Abu Dhabi Island Resort. Noor brings all her international experience to her teaching approach and shares her passion about architecture and cultural identity everyday through her practice.
