ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The department follows university of Bahrain mission, through seeking excellence in teaching and learning. The academic faculty members of the department deploy different ways of teaching and means of presentation. In addition, the academic faculty members in the department conduct research to increase knowledge exposure and dissemination, and they are interested in enhancing the student’s personality and the development of various skills in accordance with the requirements of the labor market. The department is keen to encourage students to participate in local and international professional societies for the purpose of professional development. Moreover, it works to build partnerships with the public and private sectors through seminars, workshops, conferences and field trips.

OUR PROGRAMS

The bachelors of science in mechanical engineering program contains 139 cridet hours and it is accredited by both national authority for qualification and quality assurance of education and training (NAQQAET) and accreditation board for engineering technology (ABET) in the United States.

OUR FACULTY

As of 2021, there are 16 qualified and well-experienced faculty members. 15 of the faculty are Ph.D. holders and 1 MSc holders who handle the courses’ lecture classes. The Ph.D. holders include 2 full rank professors, 3 associate professors, and 10 assistant professors. All ranked faculty members have obtained their degrees in various mechanical disciplines from reputable academic institutions globally, such as Canada, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America.

Faculty specializations are diverse, and many hold professional certifications in related air conditioning (ASHRAE), Project Management (PMP), and Office Productivity (MOS).

In addition to their academic duties, the faculty conduct research at a regional and global level, participate in various governmental/industrial committees and community services. The faculty are involved in many students’ extracurricular activities, such as supervising projects and competitions. Several faculties teach specialized courses at a Master’s and Ph.D. level for college postgraduate courses in mechanical engineering and engineering management programs. All professorial ranked faculty supervise senior projects in the undergraduate program, and several supervise MSc and Ph.D. students
