ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Civil Engineering Department has one of the largest student enrolments in the College of Engineering at the University of Bahrain. This is indicative of the popularity of the Civil Engineering Programs in the College as well as its reputation in the University. This reputation was earned by the continuous improvements of the Civil Engineering Programs, which include up-to-date developments in Civil Engineering technology. Furthermore, the standard of our alumni contributes heavily to this reputation. Our graduates are equipped with the capability of up-to-date technologies which enables them to analyze and design different forms of structures and their foundations, take active part in construction management, suggest innovative solutions in transportation and highway engineering and come up with environmental friendly suggestions in water resources, wastewater and water supply projects. The Department is aware that in today’s competitive world any program would become obsolete if not continuously improved. Hence, the department is keen on being up to date with current technical developments in Civil Engineering technologies, both internationally and locally, and strives to develop its programs to include these technologies.
OUR PROGRAMS
Our Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering program is accredited by both the National Authority for Qualification and Quality Assurance of Education and Training (NAQQAET) and the Accreditation Board for Engineering Technology (ABET) in the United States.

The Civil Engineering Department has qualified and well-experienced faculty members. The faculty members specialize in different civil engineering fields, and many have industrial experience. They received degrees from highly reputed universities from different countries in the world such as USA, UK, Canada, Japan, and Turkey. Many of them hold professional licenses from the licensing bodies such as CRPEP (Bahrain), P. E. (USA), P. Eng. (Canada), R. E. (UAE) and members of the engineering community such as BSE (Bahrain), ACI and ASCE (USA). Some of our faculty members have received recognition from well-reputed organizations for active participation in different activities.
In addition to quality teaching, the faculty members have the high potential to carry out research on contemporary issues and publish in high-quality journals. They participate in many national and international conferences, seminars, and workshops. The full-time faculty members are offering senior design projects that are related to contemporary matters in Civil Engineering and supervising undergraduates and Master’s and PhD theses. Some of the projects are in collaboration with industrial sponsors. Our full-time faculty also are committed to serving the university in various administrative duties, community services, and professional development activities to develop their career.
